Latest Technology

The Silver Spring Orthodontist utilizes the latest orthodontic technology. Many procedures, tools, and treatment options are designed to deliver a healthy smile and bite in less time and fewer trips to the orthodontist than in previous years.

SureSmile

SureSmile straightens your teeth with greater precision and accuracy than traditional braces. Using imaging, software and special robotic technology, SureSmile allows Dr. Hong to design a series of customized arch wires that create more precise alignment of teeth. In contrast to traditional braces that rely on manual wire bending, SureSmile uses incredibly detailed, 3-dimensional digital models to guide treatment. Invisalign

Transparent, “barely there” aligners that can straighten your teeth in less time than traditional braces that you can remove to eat, drink, or socialize? It may sound too good to be true, yet more and more adult and teen patients every year are approved to be treated with this revolutionary application.

The invisible alternative to metal braces, Invisalign aligners are created to fit the shape and contours of your teeth, gums and mouth using non-evasive, putty-free technology. It’s a terrific option for patients who don’t want to put their life on hold during orthodontic treatment.  No one will know you’re wearing Invisalign – unless you tell them! i-CAT®

CT (computed tomography)  is becoming the new diagnostic tool of choice for orthodontic analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning due to the latest advancements in diagnostic technology such as the revolutionary i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System.

This three-dimensional CT technology can provide a quicker full scan of the head than traditional two-dimensional imaging.  This allows Dr. Hong to have better visualization of the hard and soft tissues of the craniofacial structures from several perspectives.  The result: your orthodontic conditions are diagnosed and treatments prescribed with greater accuracy and efficiency!

i-CAT® technology is used for:

  • TMJ assessment
  • Surgical planning
  • Assessment of cleft lip and palates
  • Assessment of the alveolar bone
  • Impacted tooth position
  • Facial analysis
  • Tongue size and posture
  • Airway assessment
  • Placement of dental implants
