Duane C. Erickson, D.D.S

Dr. Duane Erickson is an orthodontist in Sliver Spring and Olney, Maryland who specializes in providing quality orthodontic care to children and adults, utilizing the most current technology available. He has been named as one of the best orthodontists by his dental peers and patients for the past ten years by Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Consumers Checkbook.
Dr. Erickson was born and raised near his Silver Spring office, which he opened in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and his Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore. He served in the Navy for three years and spent one-year volunteering at the United Nations Refugee Processing Center in the Philippines.
Dr. Erickson practiced general dentistry for seven years before returning to school at Fairleigh Dickinson University for his specialty training in orthodontics, which he completed in 1988. He has found his experience in general dentistry to be extremely valuable in diagnosing and treating his orthodontic patients with a concern for their overall dental health.
Dr. Erickson's training in the latest orthodontic techniques and advancements is regularly updated through continuing education programs. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, having served as president of the Maryland State Society of Orthodontists, chairman of the education committee for the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists and president of the prestigious Greater Washington Orthodontic Study Club. He has also taught courses for the Southern Maryland Dental Society.
Dr. Erickson, his wife and three children now live in Sandy Spring, which is a few minutes from his office. During his spare time he is an avid outdoor enthusiast and regularly enjoys tennis, backpacking/camping, cycling, and cross country skiing.
Jean Hong, D.D.S, M.S.
Specialist in Orthodontics
Dr. Jean Hong grew up in Fairfax, Virginia in a family of five, including an identical twin sister.
Dr. Hong attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a major in biology. She received her doctorate in dentistry and graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University. She then went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for her orthodontic specialty training. While at Marquette, she completed a thesis on ceramic brackets and earned her Master's of Science.
Dr. Hong has participated in many dental mission projects in underserved areas in Virginia and Jamaica. She was also an event coordinator for the Special Olympics. Dr. Hong has received many awards and honors, including the Eleanor J. Bushee Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence and selection to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Hong is married to her high school sweetheart, who is a pediatric dentist. In her spare time, Dr. Hong and her husband enjoy spending time with their dog, Titan. She also enjoys playing tennis, reading, and traveling.
